Y.Twinkle is on a mission. To encourage the next generation of young farmers from her home town. And how is she doing that? By learning modern agricultural practices and gradually transferring this knowledge to farmers back home. Her dream is to learn technology development in farm sector and irrigation infrastructure.
She is pursuing B.Sc Agriculture at Research Innovation Technology University (RTU), Bangalore.
Twinkle is passionate about learning the rapid agricultural growth through optimum utilisation of land, water, soil and plant resources of her native town and mentoring the next generation farmers – especially women – and giving them the necessary skills to pursue agriculture as a career.
She says, ‘My family members and relatives recommended I go to Bangalore to study B.Sc Agriculture and learn more about how to develop this sector.’
‘Last year I read the news about Karnataka adopting latest model of agricultural practices in water conservation and post-harvest technology.’
Coming from a humble background, Twinkle got a foot hold to pursue her dream at RTU.
She says, ‘The university truly encourages education for all. The registration fees at the University is reasonable and the college does not take donations like other private colleges.’
‘When I was scouting for admission, I found that this is the only private college, where fees is less compared to other Universities.’
‘Here equal emphasis is given to extra-curricular activities. Through the college, I have got various opportunities to participate in inter-college sports and cultural programs.’
‘The hostel facilities at the University are convenient and secure. For students like me who come from another state, the hostel becomes our home. It gives us an opportunity to interact with students beyond classrooms and form study groups.’
The learning in classroom and beyond classes is seamless. Enough opportunities are provided for industry interactions. The best thing about the campus is its diversity, where you interact with students from different states, which opens up your perspective in life.
For higher studies, she plans to pursue M.Sc Agronomy.
